Visit de Millie

Mom came out for Utah's Pioneer Day. Ok, that wasn't really the reason for the trip, but it did fall over Pioneer Day holiday. July 24 is a state holiday where we stop and remember the pioneers who discovered Salt Lake City. It's a bigger holiday than July 4 around here.

The theme of this trip was relaxation. We didn't have a lot of sight seeing activities on the to do list, instead, we cooked and hiked. To kick off the trip, Mom brought "taste of Texas" treats for us. Yummy. The way to my heart is directly through Central Market tortillas.

Mom is working out more and more and wanted to try some Utah hiking. We worked out every day that she was here. Day one was hiking all around Red Butte Gardens. It was gorgeous, but still a little hot.

The second day was walking at the Farmers Market where we stumbled upon this bike powered smoothie stand. People are so creative when it comes to going green and staying healthy.

That same day, we headed up Big Cottonwood canyon to hike around Silver Lake. Halfway through the hike, Mom decided that she wanted to go quite a bit further and hike up to Lake Solitude.

It took us a good 3+ hours, but we made it. It was a huge physical accomplishment. I was so happy and proud of her. Not only was it a long hike, it was at 9,000 feet elevation.

Day three and four was hiking at City Creek right near the Capitol building. We finally learned that we needed to start early to beat the heat.

We also ate amazing food using Farmers Market produce. Here are some authentic Texas fajitas.

Our treat at the end of the trip were hour-long massages. This is me after the massage. I could barely keep my eyes open.

Grant was actually sick most of the trip. He was sneezing so hard his body ached. He did get to do a few activities with us, we just didn't get a photo of him. Here we are eating Indian food.

We highly recommend relaxing themed trips for all.
