Grateful for the outdoors

Online learning isn't easy and we are trying to figure out our new rhythm. My kids thrive on routine and we are striving to find that new routine and find comfort in the predictable. So far that is still a goal. Grant is still working, but its becoming clear that the clinic will have to close at some point to ensure patient safely and slow the spread of the virus.

I'm struggling with being a supportive and understanding mom/wife when all I really want to do is to hide in a ball a watch movies in my pjs. I feel constantly tired even though I'm getting plenty of sleep. I refresh my CNN newsfeed constantly just watching the death toll rise. How do I let myself process and mourn what's happening while also creating a safe atmosphere for my family? It's the struggle families are facing across the world.

Running has helped my mood a lot. Luckily we have beautiful trails in our neighborhood that provide me with an outlet to release some of this tension. We have also been exploring the woods around our house. The kids seem to have much better days when we can be outside. Nature is a powerful tool to help us feel sane.

We have also created obstacle courses, cut hair on the deck, and designed our own board game.

COVID-iversary

Our lucky 13th wedding anniversary was not spent with a fancy getaway or nice restaurant dinner. Due to social distancing, we spent the day doing puzzles and taking a family hike. The kids even talked me into putting on my wedding dress. Why no? It’s an anniversary to remember.

I’m grateful to be married to someone I can be stuck with for weeks on end and still love beyond measure. So glad we have a solid base to help us endure this challenge.

School's out for summer

The kids school has been cancelled due to the pandemic hitting Little Rock. It's difficult to wrap my mind around being a homeschooling mom. Pulaski Academy is starting online learning with short videos for the kids. Learning from videos isn't the easiest concept for 5 and 7 year olds. This will be a new journey filled with lots of new challenges. Here we go!
