Compost

Grant researched, planned, and built me a compost bin. This isn't your grandmother's compost bin. This is a three-bin system so you can have compost processing at different stages. It also makes for easier turning. I am so impressed with Grant. Now let's get decomposing.

With a few more weeks off before Grant starts work, we decided we needed a quick trip up to Kansas City to see Andrea, Matt, and their baby bump (due this fall). Andrea and Matt know my love of factories and surprised us with two tours. This was a big moment for Miles. It was his first factory tour experience. I am glad I can start the indoctrination early.

The first tour was The Roasterie. This is a high-end coffee roasting factory. They use an air roasting process that I didn't know existed. We purchased some beans and I am actually drinking the coffee from them right now. It is a superb cup of joe.

Our next factory tour was Boulevard brewery. Coffee and beer, what more could we ask for?

Petit Jean State Park

We needed an, "escape from our boxes" day trip, so we drove up to Petit Jean State Park. This is Arkansas's first state park and home to Cedar Falls. For those who have never been to Arkansas, these pictures are just a glimpse into the stunning natural beauty this state has to offer.

We hiked to Cedar Falls waterfall. Grant was carrying Miles, so I had it easy. We stopped at the falls and had a little picnic lunch. I wish we could do this everyday.

Mimi came for a quick visit to see our growing baby. And this time she could drive from Austin. We didn't have much time, but we were able to squeeze in a few fun activities. We headed to Wye Mountain and picked blueberries and blackberries. This is officially on the annual summer to do list. We picked a gallon of berries and ate as we picked.
