Airport boredom

We arrived early at the airport to try to catch an earlier flight home, only to be told that it would cost a ton of money. So now we're waiting FIVE HOURS at the airport. That's ok, there's good people-watching to be done.

Update on the condo...we accepted the counteroffer, and the inspection was done yesterday. There are a few more tiny hurdles/red-tape issues in the coming weeks, but it looks like everything will probably work out!

Here are a few more photos...in order, they are the front of the condo, downstairs area, the upstairs loft area, the view of the living room from the loft, and the guest bathroom.

Day-o-waiting

It was a long day of waiting to hear back an answer from our condo offer yesterday. We tried to do some sightseeing, but underneath it all we were a big ball of nerves.

The news of a counter offer finally came from the sellers. Our job now is to decide if we want to counter the counter or just accept the offer. I don't think we were cut out for negotiations.

To clear our heads we went and saw the movie, "The Bank Job." Maybe we should just rob a bank and get a mansion in Park City!! Tomorrow we will certainly have a final answer. Here is another picture of our potential condo.

Easy day

Today we had a pretty easy-going day. We're just waiting to hear about the condo, so we didn't have any business to take care of. We slept in a little bit, then we woke up and decided to drive up to Park City! It wasn't snowing when we left Salt Lake City, but it started snowing when we got into the mountains. Once we got to Park City, it had obviously been snowing for quite some time! The piles of snow were taller than Anna. For unknown reasons she decided to lick the snow.

Park City was really nice....there were little shops lining both sides of the street, and lots of people skiing on the mountain right there off Main Street. After we walked around for a little while, we went into a little sports bar and watched the Arkansas-Tennessee basketball game. Needless to say we were the only Hogs fans, but for some odd reason there were tons of Tennessee fans. They weren't so happy with us by the time the game was over (go hogs), but who cares? Now we're back in the city and it's snowing pretty hard outside (and has been since we left this afternoon).

We made an offer!

We looked at our "finalists" today, and this afternoon we made an offer on one of the condos that we really liked. We aren't going to post any photos on the blog quite yet...don't want to count our chickens before they've hatched. But we'll post updates if we have any. We will have an answer or counteroffer by Sunday!

Ok.....we couldn't resist....here's one little teaser picture. It's a picture of some of the living room and the dining room, from just inside the entryway. I hope posting this photo doesn't jinx us!!!

Getting warmer...

So we looked at more places today (houses in the morning, condos in the afternoon). Some of the places had rooms that I loved (see first picture of the awesome room full of toy trucks). Some of the places had rooms that Anna really loved (see second picture of the only closet in Utah that can simultaneously hold all of Anna's shoes). And finally, one of the places even had this beautiful view of Mt. Olympus from a private deck off of the master bedroom. We have narrowed down the long list of places we've seen to 8 or 9 finalists that we're going to see again tomorrow. Then we'll see what happens from there...

On an unrelated note, we had some free time today so we went up to the Moran Eye Center (where I'll be spending the next few years). This photo is the view of the valley from the top floor of the Eye Center. Usually you can see pretty mountains on the far side of the valley, but the clouds were in the way today.

SLC Day 2...

So we started this morning excited as we left our hotel room, but 9 hours and ~20 houses/condos later we were not very nice people to be around! We have a few that we really liked today, a few that we really didn't, and the rest were in between. We're going to look at some more places tomorrow, and then hopefully we'll be able to narrow down our list quite a bit.

House-huntin in SLC

So we arrived in SLC today to begin our week-long journey to find a place to live. Anna hasn't felt well all day today, so she slept the ENTIRE time on both flights (don't worry she feels better now). On the right is a picture of the Grand Canyon from the airplane. Apparently the other side of the plane had a way better view, but we took what we could get.

When we got into town and finally got our rental car we met with our realtor for a little while, then drove around the city looking at different areas and trying to get used to the layout. Now that we're back in our hotel, we picked up some local beer from the grocery store (check out the pictures...apparently Utahns like to make fun of their own before anyone else can). We're going to have an easy night tonight, then start looking at our long list of potential future Morshedi residences early tomorrow. We'll post more updates throughout the week! Maybe with some more pictures!
PS - In case the pictures are too small, the beer's mottos are "Why have just one!" and "Bring some home for the wives"
