Tripoley babies

Our Tripoley game night group welcomed two new babies this month. Melissa and Dan had Patrick (first baby picture) and Annie and Nate had Ava (second baby picture).





We got to meet both of them in the hospital when they were just days old. They are both just beautiful and perfect.

Here is the group just before Annie and Nate had their baby. And don't ask why Grant has some crazy red and white feathered hat on.

It is such a great group of friends. Now it is time to start teaching these babies how to play so the tradition can stay alive.

May I have some more CAKE?

Cake the band, not cake with flower and sugar. Cake may be my favorite band of all time. I first discovered them while working at Amy's Ice Cream back in 1999 (wow, doesn't that sound like a long time ago?). "Never There" was their hit that summer. I even turned my parents onto their music.

On our last trip to California I got to see them in concert for the first time with Rachel and Grant. It was a tiny benefit show in an old school gym. Here is a flashback photo.



Last weekend, they played another benefit concert here in SLC. Grant and I arrived a few hours early since it was open seating. We thought there would already be a huge line, but we soon discovered that we were the first ones there! Here is a shot of the line just before they let us in the gates. You can also see the nice outdoor venue with the mountains.





So we were literally as close to the band as you can possibly get. We were right up against the white fence you see in the picture above, just a few feet from the band.



Our friends, Matt and Shireen, joined us for the concert. It was just amazing. They played all their classic songs along with some off their new album that comes out this fall. I'm sure glad we got their early!

Seconds Please

In our continued quest to buy local, high-quality food, we joined Winder Farms. They are a local company that delivers farm-fresh grocery products to your door. Their dairy is really what they are known for, and boy is it good. The rest of the produce isn't all local or organic, so I am going to sign up with a CSA (community supported agriculture). CSAs provide local seasonal produce that you pick up weekly directly from farmers.

One of the ways Grant and I like to spend time together is cooking. I usually am in charge of deciding what we are fixing, grocery shopping, and dishes. Grant is the head chef, seasoning king, and meat master. Here is a mushroom, Swiss cheese, bacon, avocado burger we recently made. Pretty mouth watering.



Grant loves to make weekend breakfast. I think he got that from Ali. I am glad it runs in the family. Here are some Texas inspired migas.



Here is chicken salad stuffed in a bell pepper. Pretty fancy.
