A year has passed

Last week marked a year since we said goodbye to Sherry. It was a somber day. We had a quite night at home and cooked food using her recipes. She made a cookbook a few years ago for all her kids with family recipes. It’s a treasured book.  She is missed and loved forever.

The kids made cards for Grant. Molly seemed to capture the emotion perfectly in her artwork.

Railing

Beauty meets function. I’m just in love with this railing. My designer lead me to this design idea and the iron man knocked it out of the park.

Paint

The painting is slowly come to an end. It has made a dramatic change in the feel of the house. You can definitely imagine the finished product.

35 and still alive

We celebrated my 35th birthday with a snow day. The kids were on cloud nine. We made snow angels, the tiniest snowman you can imagine, and drank hot chocolate.

The weekend before, Grant completely surprised me with a night at the Burgundy Hotel. The apartment is feeling pretty cramped lately, so it was nice to be in a space where we didn’t have to face any of the clutter. He even packed a bag with all my essentials. He got major husband points. I felt loved and pampered.

I also got to have a mother/daughter day date and lots of fun lunches with family and friends. This year will be big with the move and I feel a lot of joy.

Backflip for backsplash

The kitchen backsplash was installed today and it might be my favorite part of the house so far. The color and shine of the tile is just what I wanted. And I’m so happy with the herringbone pattern.

Beaming

We are beaming over these cedar beams! The trim team has been amazing and done such precise work throughout the whole house. Their woodworking skills are like artwork. These beams show off the beauty of the living room vault. Couldn’t be happier. I was planning on staining them dark to match the floors, but now I kinda love them in their natural state.
