No air conditioning needed!

The weather in SLC has been just about perfect, 50's at night and 70's during the day. We have been trying to unpack, but the nice weather has been such a temptation.
We found an amazing park just a mile away from our house. When we pulled up we thought we were in "The Truman Show" movie set, there were children feeding ducks in the pond, snow capped mountains in the background and manicured lawns. Needless to say this will become my running spot for the summer.

We also went to a Salt Lake Bees minor league baseball game. And yes, they do serve beer at the games. What would a baseball game be without a cold beer?

We are now working on some house projects like painting our breakfast table and chairs. There is still lots to do around here!

Finally here

After 3 days, 1500 miles, and driving through intense heat, high winds, pounding rain, snow, and tornadoes....we finally made it to our condo last night. Now we're unpacking our stuff, which by the looks of it should take a few months...

Storm chasers

So we pulled into a gas station in Colby, Kansas today only to be immediately followed into the parking lot by a caravan of STORM-CHASERS! After about an hour of driving through heavy rains, crosswinds, and some nasty-looking clouds in western Kansas, our worries were confirmed by the presence of bona fide storm chasers. Their vehicles had all of the instruments on top...just like in the movie "Twister." And the fact that they quickly filled up with gas and then peeled out of the parking lot didn't exactly inspire confidence in the weather.

You know how, sometimes, in a narrow aisle of a grocery store, you might have to turn sideways to squeeze by another person also trying to come down that same narrow aisle? That's exactly how we were today with the tornadoes. Only instead of a narrow aisle, it was Interstate 70. By the grace of God we narrowly missed all of the madness. And now we're safe in a hotel in north Denver. We were going to try to make it farther today, but apparently there's still some nasty weather in the exact direction that we need to go......so we'll just wait until the morning.

Dr. and Mrs. Morshedi move to Utah

So the last couple of weeks have been pretty hectic. We got back from our camping vacation and immediately started packing and getting ready for graduation. I graduated on May 17, and we had all of our stuff packed up and were ready to hit the road this morning! Right now we are in a hotel somewhere in Kansas after day 1 of our 3-day drive to Salt Lake City. We rented a 26-foot Penske truck (and are pulling our car on a trailer behind it), so I decided to dedicate my facial hair to truckers everywhere. Even though you can't see it in the picture, my hat says "I'd rather be fishin."

We hope to be in Salt Lake City by Friday afternoon.

Wild Wild West

We just returned from our wild wild west camping adventure. We took a week off and drove from Little Rock to Salt Lake City. We camped along the way with the exception of a brief visit to Santa Fe to visit with my aunt and uncle.

Santa Fe included a green chile breakfast, the miraculous stairway at Loretto Chapel, art gallery visits, and of course some good old catching up with family. After Santa Fe we headed to Moab,Utah to camp and mountain bike. We experienced some slick rock trails and endured the desert heat.

Our last stop was Salt Lake City where we closed on our condo. We are now official home owners! Now that we are home again, it is time to pack-up and prepare for the big move. At the moment it seems overwhelming, but I know somehow we will get everything packed.
