Baptism

The morning after Miles's birthday party, we had his baptism. We waited to have him baptized until we were back in Arkansas. And to make it even more special, we did it at the church where we were married, Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Things have sure come full circle.

It has been quite the eventful weekend. I think it's time to rest now.

Introducing Miles to the congregation.

Miles's 1st Birthday

I have to admit that Miles turning one was a little hard for me. I am excited for him to start the toddler phase, but also sad to not have a baby anymore. Oh the growing pains of being a parent. The past 12 months have been a blur...having a baby, moving across country, Grant starting his career. I hope we can catch our breath this next year (or maybe more realistically in 17 years!).

We had a wonderful (and huge) birthday bash for Miles. Forty people came over to celebrate. He is a lucky boy to be surrounded by so much love. My Mom flew in for the big event. And boy did I need her help with all the party prep.

 The big spread.
Chocolate birthday cake (I just picked something I would like!)

Looking more and more like a little boy.

I made a birthday banner we can use each year.

So big now.

There were LOTS of fun presents to open.

The cousins helped Miles unwrap.

Gift opening chaos.

Miles giving Layla a hug. Sweetness.

And more chaos.

Miles would stop every now and then to clap for himself.

Andrew and Miles checking out the new toys.

Baby view of the party.

Miles's overwhelmed face.

Time for cake!

Not sure what to do now.
This was the only bite he took.
Not impressed.
But it did leave a perfect hand print on his face.
Playing with his new kitchen from Mimi.
Starting into imaginary play.
Do we have a chef on our hands?

Warriorgate (Warrior Tailgating)

I never thought I would EVER tailgate for a Hendrix Warrior's football game. And now I have. Hendrix played their first game in over 50 years and we were there to see it. We had quite the tailgate get up and enjoyed some Hendrix reminiscing with friends. Nate even had a "Warriorgate, Class of 2004" banner made for the occasion. And then we actually won the game.

Hitched a ride to Austin

Grant's Aunt and Uncle took a business trip to Austin and guess who got to tag along? Anna and Miles! How lucky are we? Jim drove, Mahvash took care of Miles in the back seat, and I...well...I just relaxed and read magazines.

Jim and his copilot.

Reading books with Mimi.

More baby yoga.

Miles got to meet Mary. Mary is actually Anna's cousin (the daughter of Aunt Rachel). And she is the cutest!

Playing with Mimi and Monkey.

Morning face.

I found a new drawer!

Miles, Anna, and Mary all snuggled up together.

Eating tacos is hilarious.

Mahvash showing Miles pictures of himself.

Meeting Rose's son George! He was only 2.5 weeks old.

George sound asleep.

While George slept, Miles and Finley played.
A year ago, none of us had babies. Wow.

We had lunch with Kathy. Miles showed off his assisted walking.

More reading with Mimi.
Anyone else want to drive me to Austin again? I sure did have a good time.
