Star Tracks

Star Tracks is my favorite section of People magazine. I don't know why I get excited about seeing stars doing normal people things, but I do. So here is my very own Star Tracks from my trip to the Sundance Film Festival with my Mom over my birthday weekend.

Our first star sighting is Tom Arnold with either boob sweat stains or beer spilled on his shirt. Either way, he was looking a little rough. He actually posed with Millie, but the picture was washed out. This was the best shot I got. Whoops.

Next is Wesley Snipes. I think he should actually be in prison right now for tax fraud. Hmm... And the comedian Kym Whitley is right behind him in the red shirt.

Clifton Collins Jr. from Capote. We didn't know who he was at the time. We just figure if he was being interviewed he was probably famous. Adam Perdue was able to name him.

Gael García Bernal from the the Motorcycle Diaries. Oh man is he a hottie!

Dave Annable from Brothers & Sisters. It actually took us quite a while to figure out who he was. Stars can be hard to spot in real life.

This is the famous mom...Millie! She was spotted in the crowd and I was able to get her to pose for me. Lucky me!This was the smile I had on my face all weekend. I love it when I get to hangout with my Mom and Grant. It was a perfect birthday weekend.

Millie had to get a snow picture to take back to Texas. It has snowed a lot more since she left! I had to scrape about 6 inches off my car this morning! When is it supposed to warm up here?

Caption contest!

Anna and I were wondering where all of our regular blog commenters have gone. We came up with a few theories. The most likely explanation was that we haven't been posting as much, so there isn't as much to comment on. So we accept responsibility.

BUT, we would like to point out that there have been a few posts lately that were definitely comment-worthy (see exhibits A, B, C, and especially D), but got big goose eggs in the comment section.

The comments are what make this fun for us, just like the posts are what make it fun for you. So our late new year's resolution is to keep it regular (again, we're still talking about blog posts here, not prune juice). And, in return, we would like to request more fun comments.

To get things started, here is your first opportunity to make some comments. We are going to have a photo caption contest. The winning captions will be chosen from the comments, and will be displayed in a new blog post. I have created an example caption underneath each photo, but feel free to be creative...

26 Years Ago...

Today is my big 2-6 b-day. And as an added birthday bonus, today is my normal Friday off from work. My mom is in the air somewhere on her way to see me for the weekend. After I pick her up, it is off to get pedicures. How lucky am I?

Grant gave me some wonderful birthday gifts. He bought me ski pants, a subscription to the Economist magazine (one of my favorites), and my very own Wee Little Barfly. Barfly you might ask? He is a small fly figurine drinking buddy that you take with you so you never drink alone. Since Grant will have a very hard schedule this spring, he wanted to make sure I never have a drink by myself. What a thoughtful hubby. There is a picture of it below if you are still lost.

I thought a few baby pictures were in order for this post. Below is the first picture of me after I was born. I had a full head of black hair!

The doorbell just rang and it was a florist delivering flowers from Reppy! They are beautiful. They came in a classy red glass vase and brightened up my day. Thanks Rep! I also just opened up a stunning scarf from Allison. I have received all sorts of birthday cards, texts, e-mails, facebook messages, and calls. I feel so loved, and my b-day isn't even half way over!

First Elayna, now Helena

We have another niece! A month ago, Grant's brother Brandon and wife Teresa welcomed Elayna into the world, and now my brother Mark and his wife Melody have a baby girl named Helena.

Melody deserves a gold medal because she survived a 50 hour labor! I can't even imagine. They are all a little tired, but recovering well. Their little boy Dwyn is very interested in Helena, but still somewhat shy about it all.

Glad we still have our pants on

Last week at a ski resort in Colorado, a man slipped off his ski lift. Luckily, he was caught by his ski...and his pants! He hung pantless for quite a while. We are glad to say that this did not happen to us during our first ski adventure. Here is a picture of the poor pantless man.


Grant and I hit the slopes at Snowbird ski resort on Sunday for our first ski lesson. And we LOVED it! We both took to skiing pretty quickly and had an amazing and exhausting day. I am so glad we liked skiing because it will make the long winters more bearable.

As you can tell from the videos below, we are hooked!

Reality Found Us Again, Darn!

Normal life has found us again and we have struggled to get back into our routine. We have both been working hard, and Grant has started to study for Step 3 of his medical boards.

Our Christmas vacation was a trip to remember. Having 9 days off in a row is something we rarely get. And we sure did live it up. Getting to visit both of our families was a huge joy. We were able to squeeze in lots of visits and soaked up every moment with family and friends.

We also took about a million photos! I have loaded a ton below. I think you can tell from these photos how busy we were during the trip.
