Why Grant loves Bill

Here is one of the many reasons that Grant loves our cat Bill. Watch the video to understand why. Sorry for my bad commentary.

So what is that?

Grant recently attended a conference where they provided name tags. These weren't just your everyday name tags. These were name tags of a different breed...the western breed. And the makers of this great invention named it the bolotag. This is sure to liven up any conference.

Hall's 1, Morshedi's 0

Last weekend we took on the Hall's in a round of nine holes scramble style. It was a bit of a rainy day, but the cool air was refreshing. We played at a course in Midway, UT. The fall colors are starting to show and the course was truly spectacular. The entire time we kept looking up at the mountains and saying, "We live here." Pretty amazing scenery.

It was a very close game, but the Hall's won by one stroke. I hadn't played golf for probably two years, and I remembered how much I like it. I think a few lessons would put me in much better shape.

The bet was a pitcher of beer at Red Rock (brewery and restaurant) in Park City. We gladly paid up and enjoyed a really amazing dinner.

Sorry there are no photos of Grant. I guess he took all of them.

1088 days until he's 30!

I figured that out in my head, but I think it is right. Grant just turned 27 and we celebrated by working! How fun does that sound. We both worked and then I cooked a wonderful birthday dinner with farmer's market produce and meat. I made some killer shish kabobs with peaches. Who knew grilled peaches were so good.

The evening ended with Grant studying. It wasn't the most exciting birthday, but he felt loved and that is all that really matters in the end. Thank you to everyone who called, facebooked, texted, e-mailed, sent cards, and sent gifts. My gift was painting of Bryce Canyon in Utah.

Rollin' with my homies

Does anyone else remember that reference from the movie Clueless? It was a classic 90's song by Tupac and Coolio.

I was definitely rollin' with my homies this past weekend in West Palm Beach Florida. It has been a little over four years since I graduated from college, and it was about time to get the college girls back together. We decided to meet up in Florida because one of our friends, Shelby, is living there for a year of medical school. And that is how Floridapalooza 2009 was born. Six girls, Allison, Vanessa, Kathy, Leah, Shelby, and me, all together again.

As you can imagine, most of the weekend was made up of catching up, remembering college stories, and making some new memories. We ate a lot, and danced a lot, and slept very little. We stayed out extremely late each night...we are talking 4 in the morning! After a few nights of this type of lifestyle, we all came back home and developed colds. I don't think we can party like we used to. Does that mean we are getting old?

Some highlights from the trip...
1. Sitting on the beach with our picnic lunch, listening to old school rap, and fanning through magazines
2. Drinking wine on the pier
3. Dancing with a big group of girls
4. Remembering what it was like to get ready to go out with a bunch of girls
5. Eating birthday cake for breakfast
6. Swimming in the roof-top pool at 5 a.m.!

And as I am writing this, it is making me miss the girls all over again.

Let's Give them Something to Talk About

I can vividly picture riding in my Mom's white Honda Accord as a little girl singing Bonnie Raitt songs off her Nick of Time album. I know I was pretty little because I remember actually physically looking up at my Mom and belting out songs like, "Thing Called Love," and "Love Letter." I know every word to those songs. They are deeply rooting in me and have lots of childhood memories all tied up in them. At some point, Mom and I vowed to see Bonnie in concert together. And by golly, it happened. The concert was killer and Bonnie was as amazing as ever. It was a mother/daughter dream.

We were only about 50 feet from the stage. Taj Mahal was the opening act and set the blues mood for the night.

The rest of the trip was filled with lots of shopping, talking, walking, eating, movie watching, and drink sipping fun.

Here we are right before a good workout at Sugarhouse park.

You will notice that the only picture of Grant is one where he is looking at eyeballs! That is because he lives and breathes eyes right now. He didn't get to play very much while Millie was here, but he did get to give her an eye exam!

Mom next to a huge tire at the copper mine visitor's center. That tire cost $25,000. That is a good party fact for ya.

Up in Park City. We went on a showcase of homes that were valued at 5 million and up.

Beautiful tomatoes and flowers at the Farmers Market.

Mom and I like to make fancy lunches when we visit each other. This was a nice fresh shrimp salad. Oh yum.

But now Mom is back in Texas and that makes this little girl sad. I will sign off with a quote from Bonnie from a song she dedicated to her mom during the concert, "Life gets mighty precious when there's less of it to waste."
