A few more Arkansans in Utah

A few weeks ago Scott and Sarah moved out to Salt Lake City for Scott's residency. He was one year behind Grant at UAMS. We are happy that we have two more Arkansans in our hood. The neighborhood is upgrading!

We attempted to take Scott and Sarah on a hike to welcome them to the area, but the road to the hike was still closed for the winter...in JUNE! So we snapped a few shots and headed back to the valley to drink beer instead.

On the way back we saw a moose on the side of the road. Only in Utah.

A group of our friends went out to see a cover band called the Spazmatics. They only perform 80's music and are in costume and everything. Although we were young in the 80's, we still have a special place in our hearts for some good 80's jams.

71 and Frisky

We have discovered a great outdoor concert series with an impressive lineup. We purchased tickets to a few shows throughout the summer: Etta James, Smokey Robinson, Los Lobos and Los Lonley Boys, and Bonnie Raitt (Millie will be here for this one!). It is nice to have lots of concerts to look forward to.

Last week we saw Etta James. She is a true legend. Most people know her for "At Last." And let me tell you, she is one frisky 71-year-old. She was a little dirty and not afraid to talk about it. But it made for an entertaining concert.

You can bring your own picnic to this venue, so I stopped by Whole Foods and grabbed all sorts of goodies. Grant met me there after work.

Here is Etta. We had pretty nice seat.

A few people from my work were at the concert as well. They are sitting here in front of Grant. I can't wait for our next show!

Half Marathon in SEVEN Weeks!

I have signed up for a half marathon in Bryce Canyon National Park on July 18. My company is sponsoring the event so I get free registration. It will be a pretty amazing race seeing as the course goes through a National Park. There aren't too many races with views like this one (see picture below). I am in the middle of a six-week training. Over the last month, I have run 60 miles. I am hoping to run this race under 2:15. We shall see.

The training is fun, but takes a lot of time and energy. It will be worth it come game time. Last week I went running at Sugarhouse park and had Grant meet me with a picnic dinner. Knowing there was a husband and food waiting for me at the end of the run helped out more than you know.

Annie and Nate had us over for dinner last week to thank us for watching their dog. They are going to come to Bryce to support me at my race!

Bill update: We love him way too much. He is a very social cat and loves to cuddle. Here we are on the couch watching a little TV.
