Railing and carpet

Our patio railing was installed today. I can finally give a sigh of relief that no kids tumbled off the edge during the build. And it’s one step closer to passing our certificate of occupancy. And the upstairs carpet for the kids rooms is installed. They were so excited to have a soft floor to play on. 

Barshedi

One of the most exciting parts of the new house is the hidden speakeasy bar. We have named it Barshedi. Our stone installer found us an amazing piece of quartz that can be illuminated. Then, with help from the internet, we found a company that makes a thin light tape material that is specifically made for under lighting stone. Who figured. We finally have it installed and it is just fantastic. Now time for a cocktail. 

Diaper free

We are officially a diaper free house! Both kids are night time potty trained and it feels like a huge milestone. I’ve been changing diapers for 5 1/2 years. Now we have to find another use for these leftover diapers. Hats?

Move date set

We are moving April 5! It’s so nice to have a date to work towards. We just finished finalizing our landscaping. The house just has lots of little things left. Touch up paint is the biggest item on the list. We are so close. 

NYC part 2

The fast pace of the city filled us with so much energy. We walked 35 miles in 5 days and learned how to navigate the subway system. We saw world famous artwork and ate some of the best meals of our life. We didn’t see it all...but we sure saw a lot! Our trip was cut short by a incoming snow storm. We got out just in time.

NYC and kid free

It was time for our annual kid free trip. It’s so important for us to take some time without the kids to explore and enjoy each others company as a couple. And we couldn’t do it without the support of our amazing family. 

This year Grant had a conference in NYC. Neither of us had ever been. It was an amazing trip jam packed with sightseeing and the best food ever had. I spent quite a bit of time planning this trip and it all paid off. From the bagels to the cocktails, it was all amazing. 

Driveway

After the wettest February in the history of Little Rock, we finally had a dry day to get our driveway!

Hardwood floors

While Grant and I enjoyed a kid free trip to NYC, our hardwood floors were installed. They are just stunning and make everything look so finished. It’s an amazing transformation. The slightly distressed wood will be perfect for little kids. The color is a rich brown with some warm undertones. 

There was also some progress made on the back patio tile. The tile looks like pieces of slate. Home stretch is here. We move in a month!
