Self Portrait

It has been a long time since I have painted. Life has been so busy and I just haven't had the creative energy to get back into creating art. Today, I woke up with that energy again. I was reading the Hendrix College magazine and I was inspired by college art class memories. Painting is something that I love so much, and yet I never find the time for it.

I found a picture Grant took of me last year that had a really interesting composition. I remembered a technique I studied in college of painting with a very limited palette to increase the emotion in the image. I used back, white, and brown for almost the entire painting. I just added a hint of red for the lips.

Painting today really got me excited to focus my energy on art again. So, hopefully there will be some more paintings to come!
