I was feeling pretty rested and was confident this hike would be easy. Plus, I have been working out so I felt in shape. That was my first mistake. I really didn't read the entire description of the hike before we left. Little did I know that we were getting ourselves into a five hour hike that had an elevation gain of 2,050 feet over 3.5 miles (yes, over a third of a mile straight up!).
Here Grant is at the beginning of the hike before we knew what was ahead of us.
That little dot is me. The entire first 3.5 miles were ALL uphill. At this point, I was already out of breath and exhausted.
After what felt like a grueling stair-stepper workout, we finally reached the summit. And it was worth it. You could see forever and it looked like we were surrounded by the ocean.
We were so proud in this shot because we had made it, but then we remembered that we still had to hike 3.5 miles back to the car.
By the time we made it back to the beginning, we were totally out of water (I forgot to mention that the entire hike was in the sun - no shade whatsoever). We did see a few buffalo and antelope on our way out.
Don't worry, we are not putting this hike on the visitor to do list. It was beautiful, but killer in every way.

I bet this was very tiring even for young folks like you all but you two were 2050 feet closer to GOD than the rest of us.
Us old folks, we rather drive to church to be closer to GOD. It's a lot easier you know!
Love,
Dad/ Ali
