I had a free flight that expired at the end of October. So, I decided to go back to Austin and see my sweet Mom. The timing worked out perfectly because I also got to see two of my college best friends, Kathy and Allison. Allison had already planned a trip to visit Kathy, and my trip perfectly overlapped. It was fate working for sure.
I was greeted at the airport by Kathy who stood next to the other limo drivers. As you can tell, the drivers were not impressed. And Allison caught my reaction perfectly. What a nice way to be welcomed.
Then it was off to Kathy's place for some home cooked food and lots of talking. It is nice to have girlfriends that you can just lounge around with in your PJs and feel so at home. Ahhhh.
To fulfill my love of factories and Allison's love of gourmet food, Kathy took us to an olive oil ranch (http://www.texasoliveoil.com/). I never knew that Texas produced olive oil. The olives had just been picked and they were actually pressing olive oil onsite during our tour. We even participated in an olive oil tasting.
We also embraced our love for wine while we were out in the Texas hill country. Here we are at a tasting at Driftwood Estate Winery (http://www.driftwoodvineyards.com/). Look at the view from the property.
To end our perfect day, we had dinner at Maria Maria which is owned by Carlos Santana. Aren't we a good looking group of ladies?
Then, it was off to have some Mom time. We had a typical Millie/Anna adventure. We worked out, shopped, ate, and pampered ourselves. For the pampering, we went to Milk and Honey Spa for hour-long facials. WOW. It was life changing. We felt like goddesses!
And for the eating, Mom opened my palate up to the world of raw food. We went to Daily Juice Cafe and had raw enchiladas (see picture below). Yes, no cooking was involved, not even any cheese was used. And the most amazing part was how good they were. We literally were licking our plates.
In typical Millie/Anna fashion, we didn't take many pictures. But we sure did have a great time. We also had a wonderful fancy dinner at Fino. Happy Millie is coming up for Thanksgiving.
